Robert “Bob” Lloyd Lyon

Jan. 11, 1937 – March 13, 2008

Robert “Bob” Lloyd Lyon, 71, of Crawfordsville, died 4:20 p.m. Thursday at his residence.

He was born Jan. 11, 1937 in New Richmond to Emerson Lloyd and Pauline “Polly” (McClain) Lyon. Lyon married Nancy Jane Payne Dec. 21, 1963. She survives.

Lyon worked for Alcoa CSI as a supervisory tool & die maker before retiring in 1998. He previously worked at H-C Industries, Lyon’s Machine Shop, Sommer Metalcraft, Mallory Capacitor and Hudson Machine Shop.

He memberships include First Baptist Church, volunteer coordinator for Junior [Achievement], and Ben Hur Antique & Classic Car Club where he held positions of president and vice president.

He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1955 and continued his education at Indiana Vocational College. He completed the U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship through Sommer Metalcraft Corp. and he also completed [v]arious courses through H-C Industries.

He is survived by a son, John Emerson (Margaret) Lyon of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Shannon Eli[s]abeth (special friend Patty Lucas) Lyon of Muncie; a sister, Beverly (Dennis) Lyon of South Bend; and one grandchild [Emma].

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Isaac Zull and Rev. Kenneth J. Green officiating. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
